Erica “RhapsodE” Hawthorne is comfortable taking the stage solo for a moving spoken word set or holding down a full band to deliver songs that move people to nod their heads and sing along. RhapsodE’s style is a fusion of spoken word, soul, jazz, hip-hop and rock sometimes served with a side of live music.
RhapsodE released her debut CD Spoke Inward independently in 2006, blending lyrical prowess and musical giftedness. The album has received stellar reviews by listening audiences and a five-star rating from CD Baby music distribution company.
RhapsodE has shared her music and poetry in numerous cities, countless venues and has been featured at colleges, festivals, churches and premier clubs around the U.S., opening for major acts in various genres some of which include: hip hop artist Mos Def, soul artists Jaguar Wright, Fertile Ground, Kindred and Eric Roberson, spoken word artists Talaam Acey, Black Ice and Ursula Rucker and jazz artists Gerald Veasley and Byard Lancaster.
In addition to being a poet and vocalist, RhapsodE has put her other talents to work as an actress, radio personality, television co-host and host of a monthly podcast radio show The Feel Good Flow on Soul Sanctuary Radio. She also works as a college prep mentor helping high school students prepare and gain acceptance into college. RhapsodE is founder of Spoke Inward Creative Consulting, LLC an organization that develops creative projects for youth and woman to inspire them to reach their fullest potential. She is currently working on an upcoming release of her own t-shirt line: Wear Wisdom.
RhapsodE has been a member of the Philly Spoken Soul Tour since its inception in 2006, and is 1/6 of the Spoken Soul 215 collective which produces & hosts “The Harvest”.
